Monday Morning Message

A Little Less Gossip, A Little More Grace

· 1 min read

Welcome to my Monday Morning Message

I’ve been thinking about gossip lately.

Not in a heavy, judgmental way.

More in a “we all do it, and maybe we could all do it a little less” kind of way.

Because gossip can be sneaky.

Sometimes it starts as concern. Sometimes it feels like connection. Sometimes it even feels harmless in the moment.

But afterward, it rarely leaves us feeling better.

Gossip has a way of lowering the energy in a room. It pulls us away from compassion and toward criticism. It keeps us focused on someone else’s choices instead of our own growth. It can even make us feel a little superior, which never feels good for long.

And spiritually, emotionally, and even physically, it just doesn’t feel like our highest self.

I say this with humility because God knows I am not above it. I have gossiped. I have joined in. I have said things I didn’t need to say.

And I know not gossiping can be hard. It takes practice. It takes awareness. Sometimes it even takes the courage not to join in.

But I have learned that every conversation is a choice.

We can add more judgment, or we can add more grace.

We can repeat the story, or we can pause and ask, “Is this mine to share?”

We can bond over someone else’s struggle, or we can gently shift the conversation toward kindness.

This week, maybe the invitation is simple:

Before we speak about someone who isn’t in the room, let’s pause.

Is it true?

Is it kind?

Is it helpful?

And if it isn’t, maybe we choose silence.

Not because we are perfect.

But because we are practicing becoming just a bit better.

Not perfect. Just more aware.

And maybe that’s where real growth begins.

Have a beautiful week,
Colette
