It's not luck. It's being prepared.
Welcome to my Monday Morning Message
I read this phrase recently....
“Luck is when preparation meets opportunity.”
It brought back a memory from my days living in New York City.
I got a call for a last-minute photo shoot for a European cigarette ad. The casting agency wanted me because I had a big head of curly red hair.
There was just one problem. I never thought I would get a call like than.
I hadn’t gotten my hair cut or colored in a long time. It did not look like my headshot. As an actor in New York, I should have known better.
I showed up on set, and the producer took one look at me and was not happy. I was embarrassed. I honestly thought I was going to lose the job.
And in that moment, I realized something:
I had the opportunity but I wasn’t fully prepared—and I almost blew it.
The good news? They kept me, and the shoot went well.
But that experience stayed with me.
Because from the outside, it probably looked like I got “lucky.”
But luck isn’t just about opportunity showing up.
It’s about being ready for it.
The quiet work of being prepared and building good habits.
The follow-through.
The practice even when you’re tired or bored.
The attention to what matters.
Because when something does come your way, you want to be able to be ready and step into it fully.
So if things feel a little slow right now… or like nothing big is happening… don’t discount what you’re doing.
You’re preparing.
And when your moment shows up—and it will—
you’ll be ready and it will feel amazing!
Have a beautiful week.
